Cumberland Heights offers residential programs on two plots of land, 177 acres for adults and 67 acres for adolescents, located just outside Nashville, Tennessee. Cumberland Heights has gender-specific and age-specific programs that aid in treating alcohol and drug addictions and co-occurring mental health disorders. Cumberland Heights is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1966. Cumberland Heights has 15 outpatient recovery centers and 2 12-step immersion campuses. An individualized treatment plan is based on past traumas and other co-occurring illnesses. Cumberland Heights uses evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, family systems work, trauma informed care, and 12-step facilitation. Cumberland Heights offers detox, residential, adult extended care, and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Cumberland Heights accepts a few major insurances, and during admission they will collect insurance information and determine what benefits the client has and what is covered. Cumberland Heights is accredited by the Joint Commission and is one of the first in Tennessee to be American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) level 3.7 care certified.

Cumberland Heights accommodations are gender and age-specific. The men’s program has shared accommodation as does the womens. At Cumberland Heights, they believe in the power of community and that having shared accommodations aid their clients not feel isolated. They offer hiking, art activities, a music room, yoga studio, and day school for adolescents. The center can accommodate 95 clients max for the male and female adult programs. Cumberland Heights offers comfortable en suite bedrooms with 2 people to each room with a shared bathroom. All meals are prepared by chefs and according to dietary guidelines. Downtime at Cumberland Heights is regulated with internet, cell phones, radio music, and newspapers prohibited, and there’s only one tv for the facility to watch sparingly. A pay phone is available and can be used in the evenings. A gym and game room are available on alternating days based on gender and age. Cumberland Heights does offer outings in the area such as NHL Predator and minor league baseball games. On site, they offer a softball field, a regulation frisbee golf course, full basketball court, climbing wall, and a ropes course.
